Langdon Street Press

If you choose to participate in our  Bookstore and Library Distribution Program , your book will be eligible for distribution through our Langdon Street Press (LSP) imprint, so long as your book meets the requirements below.

LSP operates much like any traditional small publisher in that all titles have complete distribution to the book trade including the primary wholesale, retail, library, and online channels. We ensure that every book properly positioned in order to have the best chance of getting noticed in a very competitive market.

After your book is submitted to the program, it will be read cover-to-cover and then assessed by our staff.  The asssessment may contain certain editorial suggestions about title, positioning, level of editing, structure, etc.

Should you choose to accept the recommendations in the assessment (if any), your book will published under the LSP imprint.  If you do not agree with the assessment, your book will still have full distribution, but will be through our Two Harbors Press imprint.

In order to participate in this program under the LSP imprint, these requirements apply:

  • You must purchase our basic publishing package
  • You must purchase at least a basic editing package provided by one of our editors (this is to ensure that all books in this imprint meet the editorial standards demanded by decision makers at major wholesalers and retail chains)
  • You need to order a minimum of 75 initial copies of your book for the distributor´s inventory
  • You must purchase our Book Fulfillment Service
  • You must participate in  our Galley Mailing program or  the Booksense promotional program to independent bookstores (full service BookSense listing only).
  • You must participate in our Website Exposure Program in order to raise awareness of the 5-page website we create for your book.

Costs to participate in the Bookstore and Library Distribution program - $1,000

Authors choosing to participate must do this prior to the cover design and layout of their book. You can order this program at the time you order the initial book publishing package.  The assessment can take 15 - 25 business days depending on volume of manuscripts received.  The $1,000 fee covers the assessment, positioning & marketing advice, the distributor´s set up fees, catalog fees, and related distribution charges.

The marketing services outlined above are not included in the $1,000 program price and must be purchased prior to the commencement of the interior formatting process.

For more information on the Langdon Street Press imprint including costs and eligibility of your book, please email Anna Schmeling at anna@millcitypress.net or visit our Bookstore and Library Distribution Program page.

You may elect to have our marketing staff create a marketing plan ($200), which is presented to the small press buyers at wholesalers and major chains. For example, Barnes & Noble requires that all books submitted have a detailed and robust marketing plan in place.

The marketing programs required to be published under the LSP imprint are really a starting point.   To discuss specific marketing strategies for your book contact our Marketing Director,  Rosey Cashman (rosey@millcitypress.net).
