Selecting a Trim Size: What You Need to Know

Through our use of a printer with the latest, most advanced digital printing technology (often referred to as Short Run Digital Printing (SRDP) or Print-On-Demand (POD)), we are able to offer a wide variety of trim sizes and bindings. Black and white books can employ trims ranging from 3" x 4" to 9 1/4" x 12", and page counts from 14-1016. Color books have the same trims available, and offer page counts from 8-250. We are also pleased to be able to offer a variety of paper types to suit your needs.

Keep in mind, however, that though our printer may be able to accommodate your request, the selection of a non-traditional trim size can affect the availability of your title. Authors who are not participating in our Expanded Distribution Program are limited to standard trim sizes (please refer to the tables provided) to enable the online distribution included in our basic publishing package.

Those who participate in the Program, because they are required to provide an inventory to the distributor and use our local printer, are able to take full advantage of the high-quality POD offerings of said printer and select less traditional trims if desired (please note, however, that unusual trim sizes may also affect the price of a job). We are happy to provide our authors with printing quotes if, upon signing with us, they decide that they may wish to have a non-standard trim size or color interior.

Standard trim sizes for literary fiction and non-fiction books include (but are not limited to): 5" x 8", 5.5" x 8.5", and 6" x 9".

Please refer to the tables below for a list of our standard POD offerings available to our authors . Note that the options listed are the ONLY trims available to authors who are not participating in our Expanded Distribution Program.
